The Role

The primary role of the Budget Manager is to develop the overall Budget framework and oversee its implementation. This would also involve review budget proposals and preparation of financial documents and reports. Should combine excellent numeracy skills with the ability to analyze and present complex data. To be successful in this role, you should be able to use critical thinking to create financial forecasts and make budgeting decisions. Ultimately, you should plan, evaluate, design and implement the organization’s budget, ensuring business growth and compliance with the finance policies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, present, and oversee financial budgets on an annual and quarterly basis.
  • Develop and present annual and quarterly financial budgets.
  • Align all budgets and financial processes with company goals.
  • Collaborate with executives and cross-departmental leadership to set budget goals.
  • Evaluate budget proposals and financial requests for viability.
  • Forecast financial needs and track results against key targets.
  • Prepare cost estimates and provide necessary reporting and documentation.
  • Communicate complex financial data clearly.
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping systems.
  • Identify and analyze potential financial risks.
  • Provide financial summaries, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations in all financial decisions.
  • Design effective budget models for departments and the entire company.
  • Analyze financial information to ensure operations are within budget.
  • Present annual budgets and review budget requests for approval.
  • Forecast future budget needs and identify variances between actual and budgeted results.
  • Recommend spending improvements to increase profits.
  • Review the company’s budget for compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure department managers meet budget submission deadlines.
  • Implement effective budgeting policies and procedures.

Required Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a Budget Manager or Budget Analyst
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software and statistical packages
  • Knowledge of MS Excel (specifically, advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts)
  • Familiarity with forecasting methods and data analysis
  • Excellent numeracy skills with an attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of accounting best practices and regulations
  • Ability to explain budgeting and financial information in plain terms.
  • Degree/master’s in accounting & Finance field
