Oracle RAC DBA (Database Administrator)

Job Description: The Oracle RAC DBA is responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) databases within the organization. The DBA ensures the databases are highly available, scalable, and performant, while minimizing downtime and maintaining data integrity.

The DBA collaborates with development, operations, and other teams to design, implement, and maintain database solutions that align with business requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Design and Implementation:

* Design and implement Oracle RAC databases, including data modeling, schema design, and indexing strategies.

* Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, and translate them into technical specifications.

* Implement and configure Oracle RAC features, such as Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Resource Manager, and Automatic Workload Repository (AWR).

2. Database Administration:

* Monitor and manage database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, and optimizing system resources.

* Perform routine maintenance tasks, including backup and recovery, database patching, and software updates.

* Manage and optimize database storage, including partitioning, segment management, and space allocation.

3. High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

* Implement and maintain high availability solutions, including Data Guard, RAC, and standby databases.

* Develop and test disaster recovery plans, ensuring data protection and minimal downtime during system failures.

* Monitor and manage failover processes, and troubleshoot issues related to high availability and disaster recovery.

4. Security and Compliance:

* Implement and maintain security policies and procedures, including user access management, encryption, and auditing.

* Monitor and analyze database activity for potential security threats, and implement necessary security measures.

* Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

5. Collaboration and Communication:

* Collaborate with development, operations, and other teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of database solutions.

* Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, including troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues.

* Document and share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned with the team and organization.


Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. * Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with a focus on Oracle RAC.

* Oracle RAC certification (OCA, OCP, and OCM) is preferred.

* Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC features, including ASM, Data Guard, and Real Application Clusters.

* Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL, as well as Oracle tools such as SQL*Plus, SQL Developer, and Enterprise Manager.

* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
