About the position:

This role involves creating detailed designs for BESS projects, including DC block diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, system layout and ensuring efficient integration of RE component and BESS. Key responsibilities include component selection, system design, system communication design, review of electrical studies, adherence to BESS certifications, and designing for optimal performance and safety.

Key accountabilities:

  • Designing utility-scale BESS projects, including detailed DC block diagrams, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and system layouts to ensure efficient integration of the entire system.
  • Design of integrated project comprising of RE + BESS
  • Assisting in cell chemistry selection and design, focusing on performance, degradation behaviour, and guaranteed parameters.
  • Design of effective system communication of PPC, PCS, EMS and BMS and interoperability with support from RE design team.
  • Reviewing the design of rack and container systems, including thermal management considerations and cooling design.
  • Ensuring adherence to various BESS certifications and standards, including UL and IEC standards.
  • Reviewing vendor specific BMS functionalities, including cell balancing, SOC and SOH estimation, and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Conducting battery sizing calculations, selecting appropriate battery technologies, and evaluating system degradation and RTE
  • Conducting PCS sizing calculations and ensure optimal integration with Battery component and adherence to grid interconnectivity norms
  • Evaluating augmentation strategies and designing of proposed augmentation capacity
  • Designing auxiliary power system for BESS and calculating auxiliary losses
  • Reviewing BESS safety features at hardware and software level including cybersecurity norms
  • Assisting in FAT testing and development of acceptance criteria
  • Implementing training and capacity-building programs for onsite personnel.
  • Support commercial team in warranty claims

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • Proven experience of 5-10 years in designing utility-scale BESS, with expertise in cell chemistry, rack/container design, and BMS integration.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Skilled in fostering effective collaboration across diverse departments within the organization.
