Job Description: Confirm legal licenses & compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. License Verification and Management: Liaison to maintain a comprehensive database of all active licenses, including expiration dates and renewal requirements. Liaison to develop and implement a system for timely license renewals, ensuring no lapse in professional licensure. Research and stay informed of specific licensing requirements for various legal specializations within the organization. Compliance Monitoring: Develop and maintain a compliance calendar to track deadlines for legal and regulatory filings. Monitor relevant legal and regulatory changes that may impact the organization's operations. Prepare reports summarizing compliance status and identifying any potential areas of risk. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., HR, Finance) to ensure adherence to internal policies related to legal compliance. Communication and Training: Develop and deliver internal training programs to educate employees on relevant legal and compliance issues. Communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of staff regarding legal and compliance expectations. Maintain open communication with external regulatory agencies as needed. Review, draft, negotiate & close legal documents, contracts, and agreements (contractmanagement) . Document Review and Drafting: Review and analyze existing legal documents (e.g., licenses, permits, regulatory filings) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Draft various legal agreements and documents, including licenses, permits, data transfer agreements, and compliance certifications. Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g., business units, regulatory affairs) to gather necessary information and understand business needs before drafting documents. Conduct legal research to ensure drafted documents align with current legal precedents and industry standards. Negotiation and Closure: Negotiate terms and conditions of legal agreements with external parties (e.g., licensing agencies, regulators) to secure the most favorable outcomes for the organization. Manage communication with external parties throughout the negotiation process to ensure clear understanding and timely resolution of issues. Oversee the execution and finalization of all legal documents, obtaining necessary signatures and approvals. Manage legal incidents, issues, notice & suits by liaison with external legal counsels, courts, or agencies. Case Management: Identify, track, and manage various legal incidents, issues, notices, and lawsuits impacting the organization. Gather and analyze relevant information to develop a comprehensive understanding of each legal matter. Prepare case summaries and chronologies for internal stakeholders and external legal counsel. Track deadlines, court appearances, and other critical dates associated with legal cases. Develop and implement strategies for case resolution, considering litigation, negotiation, or other options. Liaison and Communication: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to understand the context of legal issues and gather necessary information. Act as a liaison between the organization and external legal counsel, facilitating clear communication and timely exchange of information. Prepare presentations and updates for management on the status of ongoing legal matters. Legal research on issues, incidents, and risk exposure & closures. Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research on specific issues, incidents, and regulatory inquiries affecting the organization's licenses and compliance. Analyze relevant legal statutes, regulations, case law, and agency guidance to determine legal requirements and potential liabilities. Utilize legal research databases, case management software, and other resources to gather accurate and up-to-date information. Prepare detailed legal research reports outlining key findings, legal interpretations, and potential risks associated with each issue. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and analyze potential legal and compliance risks associated with licensing and regulatory obligations. Develop and recommend mitigation strategies to address identified risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Operations) to implement risk mitigation plans and minimize legal exposure. Stay informed of legal and regulatory changes that may impact the organization's licenses and compliance posture. Case Support and Closure: Conduct legal research in support of ongoing legal cases or regulatory investigations related to licenses and compliance. Liaison to assist legal counsel by preparing legal briefs, case summaries, and other research materials. Track legal developments and deadlines impacting ongoing cases and advise on potential next steps. Research legal precedents and identify relevant arguments for achieving successful case closure or favourable outcomes. Provision of legal opinions on subject specific issues. Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on specific legal and regulatory issues related to licenses and compliance within your designated area (e.g., data privacy, intellectual property, environmental regulations). Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulatory changes, and legal developments impacting your area of expertise. Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Legal Analysis and Opinions: Analyze complex legal and regulatory issues related to licensing and compliance within your subject area. Conduct thorough legal research to identify applicable laws, regulations, and legal precedents. Provide well-reasoned legal opinions on the legality of proposed actions, potential risks associated with compliance gaps, and strategies for achieving or maintaining compliance. Clearly communicate legal implications and potential consequences in a manner understandable to non-legal professionals. Compliance Strategy and Support: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Operations) to develop and implement effective compliance strategies related to your area of expertise. Advise on the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant licensing and compliance requirements. Assist in the review and drafting of legal documents (e.g., license applications, contracts) to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks. Train and educate internal stakeholders on relevant legal and compliance issues within your subject area Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited Indian law school 2+ years of experience as an in-house counsel, with a focus on health care law Skills: Legal knowledge and expertise in health care law. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Familiarity with the hospital's operations and culture. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work independently. Commitment to providing high-quality legal services.
