Experience: 20+ years of Industry Experience in multi factory / pan India environment (exposure in MNCs is an advantage).

Education : Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline (Masters degree preferred). Professional certification in Safety from a recognized body.


Purpose and Definition of the Role:

Responsible and accountable for defining, executing, and sustaining comprehensive result oriented EHS programs through a structured methodology across all spheres of operation in the organization. Lead a team of people and involve in strategizing and ensuring adherence to applicable compliances. Ability to develop and guide facilities towards applicable certifications and standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14000, ISO 21000, ISO 22301, ISO 45000 & ISO 50000). Should be able to oversee sustainability report development, ensuring alignment with company guidelines, trends, stakeholder input & concerns in alignment with corporate strategy & directions. Ensure improvement in overall EHS maturity and cultural enhancement across the hierarchy.


Role Description :

Working with the Senior Management Team, develop, set the pace, and implement transformational and continuous improvement strategy in the Environment, Health, and Safety aspects of the organization. Maintain a zero-tolerance approach towards compliances. Maintain sensitivity towards the organizational structure, culture, people, and processes. Outline direction and deployment of the EHS framework to ensure consistent and rigorous application across the business in line with best-in-class practices. Responsible for the successful management and implementation of EHS Excellence projects / initiatives across the business by developing an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible team and building working relationships across functions and locations at V Guard. Should be able to demonstrate strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.


Key Responsibilities :

EHS policies and procedures:

  • Design, update, and communicate EHS policies and procedures in alignment with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance of policies across all levels of the organization.


Regulatory compliance:

  • Stay abreast of local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental protection, occupational health, and safety.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, as necessary.


Risk assessment and mitigation:

  • Identify potential environmental, health, and safety hazards in the workplace. o Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks (LOPA, HAZOP, HIRA, etc.)
  • Implement preventive measures to minimize accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents.


Safety training and education :

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained on EHS policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Foster a culture of safety through continuous education and awareness campaigns.


Incident investigation and reporting:

  • Lead investigations into environmental incidents, workplace accidents, and near misses.
  • Compile and analyze incident data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.


Emergency preparedness and response :

  • Develop emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response protocols.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure readiness for emergencies.


Environmental stewardship:

  • Develop and implement initiatives to reduce the organization's environmental footprint.
  • Monitor environmental performance metrics and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Promote sustainable practices and initiatives within the organization.


Leadership and collaboration:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the EHS team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into business operations.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management on EHS performance and initiatives.

  • Experience in Carbon Neutrality and Water positive strategies.
  • Experience in Zero waste to landfill and Zero liquid discharge.
