ACADEMIC COUNSELLOR

Overview: The Academic Counsellor plays a crucial role in providing guidance and support to students assisting them in making informed decisions about their academic and career paths. Collaborating with faculty and staff the Academic Counsellor helps students navigate the academic landscape and coordinates resources to enhance their educational experience. Key Responsibilities: Provide oneonone academic counselling to students Assist students in academic goalsetting and course planning Offer guidance on academic program requirements and career pathways Coordinate workshops and seminars on study skills time management and exam preparation Support students in resolving academic challenges or conflicts Monitor students academic progress and intervene when necessary Collaborate with faculty to address student needs and concerns Conduct intake assessments and academic counseling appointments Develop and update academic advising materials and resources Participate in orientation programs and academic advising events Track and communicate academic policies and procedures to students Provide referrals to campus and community resources Maintain accurate and confidential student records Participate in professional development and training activities Contribute to the development and implementation of retention initiatives Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Education Counseling or related field Proven experience in academic advising or student support Strong knowledge of higher education systems and academic policies Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations Understanding of career and academic counseling principles Proficiency in academic planning and curriculum requirements Familiarity with student information systems and advising tools Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Strong organization and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Demonstrated commitment to student success and retention Knowledge of community resources and support services Understanding of mental health and wellness issues among students Commitment to continuous professional development community resources,higher education systems,curriculum requirements,confidentiality management,academic planning,retention initiatives,academic advising,time management,interpersonal communication,teamwork,business development,inside sales,mental health issues,student support,professional development,academic counselling,career advise,academic support services,student success,communication
