Brief Description about the role:

The Electrification Core engineering team requires experienced electronics design engineers to apply world class design and analysis skills to improve Jaguar Land Rover's capability to deliver in-house electronic designs and to intensively review the designs of our suppliers. The objective is to deliver levels of reliability and robustness exceeding anything that we have seen before.


Skills, experience and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Master, bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in complex power electronics high voltage systems.
  • Must have a working knowledge / experience in most eDRIVE & PE Components like inverters, converters & chargers.
  • Hands-on experience on power conversion topologies like PFC, PSFB, LLC, HB, FB, flyback, forward
  • Hands-on experience on uC, digital HW, Analog Sensing, communication protocols, LV HW Designs, Low power SMPS
  • Wide knowledge of electronic devices and circuits and their application, including power devices, microcontrollers, switch mode power supplies, RF circuits, analogue and digital circuits and design for EMC and printed circuit board design and manufacturing process.
  • Understanding of control systems hardware, sensor technology, control software and diagnostics.
  • Significant experience specifying and designing low voltage, high voltage and control hardware, including an understanding of typical characteristics and protective systems required.
  • Experience of defining and/or using appropriate analysis tools to optimise and verify thermal performance and hardware reliability/ durability.
  • A working knowledge of the design and release process
  • Experience of design FMEA’s, working Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques e.g. 8D
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience of meeting deadlines.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team

Desired:

  • Masters or Ph. D in Electrical Engineering.
  • Product design lifecycle experience
  • A knowledge of typical BEV, MHEV and PHEV system solutions and technologies
  • Understanding of regulatory needs applicable to BEV and PHEV solutions
  • The ability to manage a project from requirement to production; manage parts across multiple vehicle programmes
  • Familiarity with RMDV or DOORS


Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Design and Release of Power Electronic Parts across various Electrified Powertrain programmes.
  • Ensure robust timing plans are met to achieve Program milestones and targets (Quality, Cost, Functionality, Weight, and timing).
  • Ensure DFMEA, Design Rules, RMDV, Statement of Work process/documents are diligently and transparently implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gateways.
  • Lead issue resolution (AIMS) and Change Management (WERS), processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly and support programme objectives.
  • Drive the resolution of cross functional technical / manufacturing issues using 8D process
  • Lead suppliers through design phase of their electronics to meet JLR design and test
  • Support analysis and implementation of digital control for power conversion
  • Work with a Statement of Requirements to support supplier sourcing and work with the matched pair through the GSP process.
