Job Summary:



The Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting in delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable products and services to our customers. The job consults with operations groups as needed to support the area of expertise and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of product and service delivery and formally communicates findings. The Systems Engineer actively participates in promoting new technology and services offerings and supports the PL in risk management and applying lessons learned to improve job design and execution as related to the area of expertise. They provide real-time support to operations as required. The position reports to Team Lead -New Energy. Successful Position holders are excellent communicators, enjoy solving problems, and work well in teams.




Responsibilities:



  • Review overall project conceptual design, detailed design, and suggest technical and design improvements for BESS projects.
  • Develop requirements and electrical design for multi-MW energy storage systems integrating battery, power conversion, transformer to medium voltage, controls hardware, communication, auxiliary power, and safety equipment into standardized products.
  • Provide technical input from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility of the project.
  • In depth design experience on selection of Electrical components and associated interface including Batteries, Inverters, Inverter-duty Transformers, AC, DC & Control cables, Low Voltage AC/DC switchgear for voltage level up to 1000 Volt AC and 1500 Volt DC, ensuring compliance to various IEC, NEC, IEEE design standards.
  • Engagement with global clients to understand the requirement and develop technical offerings based on the clients need.
  • Responsible for electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, purchase requisitions for inverters, switchgears, transformers and other equipment as required.
  • Support development of product manuals and other documentation related to product installation, operations, and maintenance. Prepare system level interface documentation and site design guides for use by customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Work with electrical component vendors to evaluate, select, and collect detailed technical information on system subcomponents.
  • perform electrical studies as part of system design, including short circuit analysis, protection sizing, protection coordination, and arc flash.
  • Provide technical support in the area of expertise throughout the Sales and Product and Service Delivery process.
  • Assist with identifying areas where new and cost effective techniques can be applied.
  • Explore opportunities for value-added products and services.
  • Consult with Design/Technical Engineer role as required to optimize the technical design.
  • Assist in real-time incident response, recovery, and investigation as related to the area of expertise.
  • Assist in evaluating technical viability and overall appraisal of tenders as related to the area of expertise.
  • Remain current on new technologies.
  • Maintain customer visibility through active participation in professional society activities and calls for papers.
  • Understand the competition’s technical offering.
  • Participate in external technical societies and communities.
  • Contribute, write and review technical publications.




Academic Qualifications:


  • Having good knowledge about different battery technologies with knowledge about the certification and safety requirements of batteries.
  • An in-depth knowledge and field expertise regarding BESS technologies including emerging technologies and the international market.
  • Should have full understanding of how different energy storage system components interact.
  • Having good knowledge about different battery technologies with knowledge about the certification and safety requirements of batteries.
  • Having good knowledge about different components of a BESS system i.e. Inverters, Inverter-duty Transformers, AC, DC & Control cables, Low Voltage AC/DC switchgear for voltage level up to 1000 Volt AC and 1500 Volt DC.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA 70, IEC 60364, UL 9540, IEC 62933.
  • Possessing strong problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities for collaborative engagement with cross-functional teams and clients, and the capacity to work seamlessly with global teams across diverse backgrounds and time zones.
  • Proven track record of successful project execution and meeting deadlines.




Experience:



  • Minimum of 6 to 7 years of expertise in BESS.
  • Proven experience in Electrical Power Systems Design in Renewables energy preferably in the Battery Energy Storage industry.
  • Experience in New product development process and systems engineering.
  • Field Exposures of BESS MW Scale projects.




This is an office base position, with the expectation to come into the office four days a week.
