Gate One was established in the UK in 2013. We’ve seen recent international expansion with teams in Dublin and New York. We are now building a team of exceptional consultants to establish and lead our business in India and grow out a key client account.

Role Description and KRAs:

As Client Director, your role will be pivotal in establishing, building, and leading the new Gate One, India Client Delivery Team. You will have support and oversight from a Gate One Partner and Client Director based in the UK. Together, you will shape the growth strategy for a key client account in Bangalore.

Your role will be a combination of scoping and shaping new client opportunities, setting up and overseeing engagements, leading, and overseeing the Gate One client account team(s), developing new capability in the team to meet client demand, and sharing performance updates and reports with the UK business.

As the lead person on site in Bangalore, you will take responsibility for driving the business towards the next phase of growth.

Business Development

  • Help shape the business plan for the consulting team based in India, aligning this with the growth and ambition of the Gate One business plan.
  • Develop the Gate One capability in India. This will include working with the UK Capability Leads to develop new propositions and upskilling the team in sector knowledge and consulting capability expertise.
  • Develop additional revenue within the existing client account through account management and development. Build effective, sustainable relationships with the client’s team. Identify and meet client needs, developing the account over time.

Delivering client engagements

  • Oversee the delivery of complex transformation client consulting engagements, managing project budget and teams of consultants and/or client staff to deliver the promised impact to clients.
  • Act as the main point of contact to senior client sponsors; anticipate, recognize and meet the client’s needs; understand the client’s perspective and offer appropriate assistance.
  • Build high performing consulting teams providing leadership, development and inspiration to consultants on client assignments, modelling best practice and ensuring consistency and quality of approach.
  • Motivate and actively coach and manage Gate One and client team members through informal feedback.
  • Lead and support Gate One staff through the performance management process.
  • Personal utilization target of 60-80%

Building the business internally

  • Contribute to the Gate One strategy and business planning, to help build and achieve the growth ambitions of the business.
  • Work with the local recruitment team with support from UK colleagues, to lead recruitment of consultants for the Client Account Team. Uphold the centralized recruitment function model locally, to ensure global consistency and quality in recruitment approach and process.
  • Work with the UK based HR and L&D teams to onboard, support and develop your team.
  • Contribute to the Gate One culture by leading, participating in & helping organize team events. e.g. team meetings, attending Gateaways, plugging in colleagues to UK initiatives when feasible
  • Contribute to internal Communities/personal areas of interest. e.g. Gate One coaching program, leadership development training, core consulting training, health & well-being, DEI, local Havas initiatives etc.
  • A resonance and ability to demonstrate the Gate One values when working on internal projects

Ideal experience:

  • 15 - 20 yrs.+ management consulting experience, gained predominantly within recognized consulting businesses (e.g. big 4). Additional complementary consulting experience gained within inhouse consulting roles in industry can be additive.
  • Recent experience for leading the growth of a consulting practice, sector (ideally Retail) and/or capability area.
  • Deep client-led consulting expertise and credibility in an industry sector (preferably Retail and Consumer Goods) and/or consulting capabilities such as Change Management, Program/Portfolio Management, Data Management and Transformation and/or Strategy and Transformation
  • Relevant certifications in core technical consulting skills including program management frameworks and governance, with practical application in consulting roles.
  • Personal delivery expertise in designing, shaping, and delivering complex end to end business transformation programs and leading blended consulting teams.
  • Expertise in developing and growing client accounts
