Application Development Advisor:

Position Overview:

Provides counsel and advice to Pharmacy Technology management on significant Engineering matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. This role exercises considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering engineering initiatives across several disparate applications. The application development advisor is expected to use deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders and provide thought leadership as they provide support on technical planning, designing, coding, and testing.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform application development and maintenance of entity-based micro services using Java/J2EE including Java 1.8 features like Lambdas, Streams, and Filters and with different frameworks like Spring Boot, Hibernate, Pivotal Cloud, Jenkins, Kafka Streams, and REST.
  • Implementing test suites to test the developed functionalities based on test scenarios proposed by Product Owner using Test Automation Frameworks like Junit, Mockito, Cucumber, etc. to ensure code quality and performance.
  • Working in an AGILE environment with bi-weekly sprints and providing work updates in daily SCRUM calls, maintaining industry level best practices for applications development using wide varieties of latest technologies and frameworks.
  • Participating in software/hardware configuration, releases and installation tasks
  • Participate in technical planning and requirements gathering phases including Design, code, test, troubleshoot and document engineering software applications.
  • Demonstrating the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience levels.
  • Working on developing REST APIs (Micro Services) to expose REST endpoints which will be consumed by the end users as per the internal business requirements.
  • Build integrated Update processor to load legacy monolith data (SQL) into a Micro Service based application using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka is used as a message broker for processing the messages from source to destination.
  • Research on new technologies and document them in a timely manner to enhance API processing performance, test driven development (including code coverage of 95%), behavior driven development where automation is done using Cucumber (Citrus).
  • Maintain proper logging to monitor the request/response time and TPS of the application, closely monitor the daily transactions history using Grafana dashboards ex. No success messages, error messages and examine the fault and fix the issues if required.
  • Deploy the code into the PCF through continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodology( Jenkins ) after each successful implementation of new feature
  • Coordinate with other teams as the applications are micro services, rectify the issues while consuming the dependent API’s, and fix the issues if necessary.
  • Participate in code reviews after each successful push in the repo, suggest if any changes required to maintain the cleaner and concise code.


Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills across applications and database technologies
  • Previous experience supporting cloud hosted applications.
  • Strong ITSM background and understanding of best practices related to incident, change and problem management
  • Technical background in database technologies – Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, Python, UNIX, Pega
  • Technical background in supporting various server platforms. Linux, Windows and Virtualized server environments
  • Understanding of agile application development life cycles and supporting test environments.
  • Experience with REST services.
  • Experience with alerting and monitoring tools to ensure adherence to service level agreements.
  • Experience with application capacity and performance tools
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Create and produce application support documentation
  • Must be "very" strong in Java. We want Java engineers that are really passionate about Java and take the time to understand why they do things a certain way.
  • Other skills include: RESTful Web Services, SpringBoot, Kafka, MongoDB, and automation skills (such as Jenkins and Cucumber).
  • Mentorship skills are required.


Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline strongly preferred
  • Typically 8 to 10 years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of five years’ experience application development or production support, or the equivalent in education and work experience


Location & Hours of Work:

  • Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate.
  • Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India, with flexibility to work remotely as required.
