Assistant General Manager Finance

As the Assistant General Manager - Accounts for our construction company, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing all financial aspects of our operations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, implementing effective financial controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting, preferably within the construction industry, along with strong leadership and analytical skills.


Responsibilities:


1. Financial Management:

- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

- Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial forecasts to identify potential risks and opportunities.


2. Accounting Operations:

- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.

- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and financial statements.


3. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

- Conduct regular financial analysis to evaluate performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.

- Prepare comprehensive financial reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.

- Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to support business decision-making and drive profitability.


4. Compliance and Risk Management:

- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, filing requirements, and other statutory obligations.

- Manage financial risk by implementing effective internal controls and monitoring adherence to financial policies and procedures.

- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and finance.


5. Team Leadership and Development:

- Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Accounts department.

- Promote cross-functional collaboration with other departments to achieve company goals and objectives.


Qualifications:

- Qualified Chartered Accountant .

- 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

- Prior experience in the construction industry or related field is highly desirable.

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and financial reporting standards.

- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
