Job Title : Assistant Manager EHS Function : Environment, Health and Safety Job Purpose : To ensure that all risks and opportunities related to environment, health and safety (EHS) in the manufacturing unit are identified and managed effectively with an objective to continuously improve the EHS performance. Principal Accountabilities: Overall responsibility of managing environment, health & safety (EHS) related aspects and ensuring compliance with company’s EHS Guidelines at the Unit. Ensure that all applicable statutes related to environment, occupational health and safety are complied with. Work towards developing a safety culture in the Unit. Assess the orientation of employees (including service providers) towards safety, and accordingly design & implement suitable interventions to inculcate safety in the attitude and behavior of employees so as to develop a healthy safety climate. Ensure risks associated with all activities and areas in the premises have been assessed and accordingly design & implement the risk mitigation measures. Prepare & deliver appropriate training interventions to ensure that workforce is competent according to their EHS accountabilities Ensure that relevant EHS communications and awareness programs are effectively delivered. Ensure through regular site inspections/ appropriate liaising with workmen that safe work practices are adhered to. Ensure that all near-misses and incidents are captured and analyzed and actions are taken to prevent recurrence. Ensure that best safe work practices are identified and implemented. Ensure timely actions and reviews on the findings of site inspections and EHS audits. Plan and ensure that EHS Committee Meetings are held regularly and effectively. To make sure that safety features are in-built at the initial stage of new projects. Ensure that the EHS risks associated with all new machines are assessed and mitigated before their commissioning. Support plant head and relevant departments in monitoring, reviewing and improving Unit’s sustainability performance. Ensure timely delivery of Sustainability Report on monthly, quarterly and annual basis as per the Company’s relevant procedures. Knowledge: EHS related legislative requirements Industry’s best practices and latest technology in relevant areas Company’s EHS Guidelines Safety management systems e.g. work permit system, hazard spotting, near miss reporting Skills: Communication and Interpersonal ability Strong people management skills Logical thinking with technical and analytical ability High level of motivation and energy Experience and Educational qualifications: 1. Candidate should possess a : Degree in Engineering/Technology (BE/ BTech) in any field with at least 6 years of experience in supervisory/ managerial role in Production, Maintenance or Safety department Or in Physics/Chemistry or Diploma in Engineering/Technology with at least 8 years of experience in supervisory/managerial role in Production, Maintenance or Safety department Candidate should possess a Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Industrial safety (Recognised by the State Government) Candidate should have cleared Viva Voce test conducted by a board constituted by the Labour Department (State Government) for the purpose Knowledge of local language Candidate should be able to speak Odiya & Hindi Candidate should be 28 years of age or more Should have 60% throughout his academics.
