1. JOB PURPOSE

The Electrical Specialist is responsible for handling the design and detail engineering of electrical systems for for the new projects / contracts. The specialist will oversee all aspects of electrical engineering, including instrumentation and automation, from concept to detail engineering and also support the Procurement team & Project teams in executing the same. He will also contribute to estimations costing related to electrical, instrumentation, and automation components of projects.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • the design of electrical systems for the new contracts across our portfolio ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards
  • instrumentation and automation aspects of projects, integrating these components seamlessly into the overall electrical design.
  • the entire project lifecycle from concept to commissioning, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • costing related to electrical, instrumentation, and automation components of projects, optimizing costs while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • safety studies, including FEMA, HAZOP, and LOTOTO procedures, to identify and mitigate electrical and fire safety risks.
  • with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consulting firms, to ensure alignment of electrical designs with project requirements.
  • technical expertise and guidance to project teams, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to electrical engineering in the context of material handling and metal/mineral processing plants.
  • have experience in Energy management, & exposure to Lean design concepts

3. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Teams: Collaborate with project teams to ensure alignment of electrical designs with project requirements and timelines.

Clients: Interface with clients to understand project specifications and requirements, and provide technical support and expertise as needed.

  • and Consulting Firms: Coordinate with contractors and consulting firms to implement electrical designs and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

4. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES/COMPETENCIES

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate or Post-graduate degree in Electrical Engineering with a background in design.
  • of 15 years of experience in designing electrical systems for material handling and metal/mineral processing plants within the context of EPC contracts.
  • in instrumentation and automation components of projects.
  • in costing related to electrical, instrumentation, and automation parts of projects.
  • in industries such as EPC, metals, mineral beneficiation plants, mines, and material handling plants.

Competencies:

  • technical expertise in electrical engineering, with a focus on material handling and processing plants.
  • Numerical ability and commercial acumen
  • in project lifecycle management, from concept to commissioning.
  • knowledge of safety standards and regulations, including FEMA, HAZOP, and LOTOTO procedures.
  • communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
