Purpose •The Release engineer will provide critical thinking and a high degree of Technical innovation and attention to detail, while being recognised as a trusted advisor to the team and stakeholders. •Characteristics include being versatile, displaying leadership qualities and enthusiasm to coordinate and facilitate change across the full SDLC, ultimately assisting in moving technology forward •This role is also a servant leader and coach for wider team and supports the implementation of new and better ways of working using Agile frameworks and methods. Essential capabilities •Customer Focus •Collaborates •Plans & Aligns •Decision Quality •Strategic Mindset •Being Resilient •Excellent documentation and communication skills, stakeholder management •Focus on quality and detail. •Risk, dependencies, roadblock management •PI planning and execution • Other capabilities •Able to navigate a large complex organisation & build relationships with Senior stakeholders using informal and formal networks •Large scale shaping and delivery experience within complex environments •Strong strategic planning capabilities Experience •8 to 10+ years technology experience •5+ years in application development and / or support roles •Software delivery technical skills such as CI/CD, Automated Deployments, Automated Testing, Build Servers etc •Change, Incident and Risk management experience •Experienced with delivering technology solutions through to production environments frequently •Service Now and Rally/JIRA Experience •Platform automation tools (DB Management, AWS, Jenkins, GITHUB etc •Experience across Agile and adaptive delivery models, mindsets & tools •Track record of strong experience operating effectively and delivering consistent results in a large complex business •Strong understanding of digital technologies, analytics and business process based solutions Qualification Requirements •Tertiary degree in IT from a recognised institution is preferred •Agile Certification essential Key Decisions Key Accountabilities •Integration and sequencing of changes including understanding code dependencies •Decisions pertaining to the flow of work across multiple releases •Chair & facilitate Change Governance Forums including scope change •Fostering collaboration •Facilitating solution demos, synchronization between teams • •Facilitate synchronisation & execution across diverse set of Agile development teams to ensure strategy and execution alignment •Keep key stakeholders informed of overall progress against the release commitments •Provide coaching to help resolve process issues across the release train •Facilitate with prioritisation, sequencing. Actively manager and shift priorities as required including back-out & recovery plans, code environments and code dependencies •Arrange and facilitating implementation logistics. •Manage dependencies across squads and remove roadblocks to drive outcomes with product owners and business stakeholders. •Escalation point for dealing with issues, risks and removing bottlenecks/impediments •Manage and optimise releases to available capacity through driving Feature/ Epic & Story estimation, prioritisation and delivery •Ensuring execution is in sync with strategy Key Interfaces Key Performance Indicators •Business aligned division (Domain Owner teams) •Technology change and run teams •Product Management •Business Stakeholders •Delivery of committed change to production with no impact & minimised outage •Proactively manage risk, meeting all policy and compliance requirements; perform controls; adhere to process and procedures pertinent to role; and escalate events, issues or breaches as they are identified •Implementation of prioritised change outcomes aligned to domains and achievement of associated KPI’s. •Features planned vs features delivered •Improve the flow of work in agile release train
