Naval Architect

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Hands on working knowledge of Naval Architecture activities, main ones as listed below.
• develop detailed technical specification based on brief client requirement/specification by liaising with multidiscipline engineers.
• Key Plans like: General Arrangement, Tank Capacity Plan, Midship Section, Fire & Safety Plan, based on brief owner requirement/specifications, Class, and statutory requirements. This requires a good understanding of the layouts of different types of marine and offshore projects.
• Scantling design based on classification rules and structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Calculations, Tonnage Calculations, Equipment Number Calculations, Capacity Plan, Resistance, powering calculations, Intact and damage stability analysis, mooring and other marine Operations knowledge.
• Perform and monitor weight and CG calculations at basic and detail design stage and to produce report.
• Be familiar with rules and regulation of various Classification societies and sound knowledge of Statutory rules such as SOLAS, MARPOL, IMO etc.
• Tender design & documentation for new projects.
• Work closely with other internal sections within the engineering department to ensure the coherence of the overall design. (Piping / Mechanical / Electrical).
• Design reviews and taking necessary follow up actions.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Expertise in software such as: GHS, NAPA, MAXSURF and structural analysis software like GENIE, STAAD Pro.
• A self-starter and committed team player with good interpersonal skills and an analytical mind.
• An eye for detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
• Have excellent communication skills to engage both with internal and external parties.
• in project planning and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience with design engineering/marine consultancy companies, where hands on exposure to a wide range of marine projects can be demonstrated.
