Local Area Network Engineer

Role & responsibilities:

  • To perform Customer requested configuration changes necessary for moves, adds, changes and disconnects on each Managed Device related to the Router, Switch, and Wireless Access Point configuration. May also need to work on New requests coming from the customer.
  • Assist in Network Device Installations/ Monitor staging and installations, Site Surveys. Provide notification of any material installation impacts or issues to Company (ex. missing circuit connectivity, demarcations not extended).
  • The Project Management organization is comprised of Project Coordinators, Managers and Senior Project Managers that lead, oversee and coordinate all aspects of projects assigned to them. Projects can vary from large transition/transformation projects to projects of smaller defined scopes and are assigned to Project Managers based on their skill, experience, and availability.
  • Project Management utilizes practices based on Project Management Institute (PMI) processes as well as Prince2 where applicable, organized around following process groups of project lifecycle: * Initiating * Planning * Executing * Monitoring and Controlling * Closing
  • Coordinate with Client/Customer to validate their single point of contact for communication and escalation for any issues.
  • Develop comprehensive Test Plan (for transport) Establish Meeting Schedule (weekly, monthly)
  • Service and support model development Perform gap analysis on tools to operate the new environment Perform existing network audit


Preferred candidate profile:

  • Basic knowledge of Cisco or Juniper devices experience and network knowledge in managing LAN/WAN
  • Knowledge of telecoms, data and transport networks
  • Min. 2 year experience in telecommunications discipline
  • Knowledge of Network Managements Systems
  • Knowledge of IT Systems and Applications
  • Network skills LAN knowledge
  • MACD or Troubleshooting Experience
  • Any of these Certifications ITIL, PMP, BA, PMI, CBAP, UX, 9001, CSA, IAM, CPQ
