To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:Perform design evaluation and calculations for gates (spillway gates, intake gates, stoplogs, etc.) and hoist equipment including sizing and strength calculations to assess new and/or existing/aging gates and hoist equipment.Prepare design basis memoranda, technical memoranda and design reports.Write specifications for equipment supply contracts for gates, hoists, cranes and working with vendors on equipment supply contracts.Work with drafting technicians to prepare design drawings and conceptual / tender level drawings.Work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team, coordinating with civil, electrical, and other mechanical engineers.Review the work of other engineers, including calculations, drawings, and reports.Participate in risk analysis workshops including dam-safety related risk and internal project risk workshops.Provide presentations to clients and internal audiences including technical team and management committees.What will you contribute? As a minimum, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.At least 10 years of experience in the hydroelectric industry with specific experience in hydromechanical.Knowledge of ASME, IEC, USACE and other codes, standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to the work.Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D drafting software experience (SolidWorks, Revit or other) is an asset.Proficiency in Office software products is essential (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).Demonstrated experience working in an environment where safety, integrity and teamwork are key values.A clear communicator with ability to make clear presentations to peers, management, and clients.An excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).Proven mentoring, teamwork, and leadership skills.What We Can Offer YouVaried, interesting and meaningful workA hybrid working environment with flexibility and great opportunitiesOpportunities for training and, as the team grows, career progression or sideways movesAn opportunity to work within a large global multi-disciplinary consultancy on a mission to change the ways we approach business as usualWhy work for AtkinsRéalis?
