Compensation As per market standard & past experience.

Purpose The primary role of Head of Development is a leadership role that will oversee and manage the organization's fundraising and development efforts based on the University's Vision & Goal. The person will be managing the development staff, providing guidance, training, and support to achieve fundraising goals. The role is heavily focused on giving areas – Philanthropic Partners, Major Donors, Trusts, Foundations and Corporate Partners.

About RNBGU

The RNB Global University has been established by act no 20 of 2015 passed by the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha and notified by state of Rajasthan on 27/04/2015. The degrees which will be awarded by RNB Global University would be recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC).

The University has a sprawling campus in Bikaner and currently has the faculties of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Basic and Applied Sciences, School of Commerce and Management, and School of Law. The University has the capacity to accommodate three thousand students in an academic year.

The University is planning to expand the faculty to include several other disciplines in the areas of Public Health Management, Diplomacy, and Mass Communication. The university is now blessed with a sprawling infrastructure, strong faculty and learning facilities, academic excellence ambition, and good will of the local community. The University has a research centre where we aim to pursue cutting-edge research in the areas of natural resources, health, climate, and various other areas. The ambitious research centre will tap into the fields that are gaining importance in the geo-political and socio-economic landscape of civil challenges that mankind faces.

About Development Team

The University has been funded by the founding family for nearly a decade now. To become the most renowned and acclaimed rural University of India, we are establishing a development unit to raise funds for the University’s future ambitions. In the coming years, we are aiming to become self-sustainable with a strategically built fundraising and institution development engine.


The University Development Team will be spread over multiple locations in India and outside India as well. Currently, we have an office at Delhi- which functions like a corporate office for the University. Additionally, we will be opening our Development offices in Bengaluru and Mumbai soon.


Roles and Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Conceptualise, shape and implement annual and long term strategy for Development team based on the University’s vision and goal
  • Build a comprehensive and purpose driven fundraising strategy individually for each giving segment i.e. i. Trusts & Foundations, ii. Major Donor (Philanthropists, UHNI/ HNI), iii. Corporates, iv. Government institutions, and v. Other Partnerships (with Institutions/ Associations)
  • Appropriate stewardship with funders with an aim of building long term funding relationships for each giving segment.
  • Provide strategic input on funding and sector trends and identify opportunities to ensure the organisation is well-positioned to meet its strategic goals.
  • Participate on the all sub-committee etc. that may be created for enabling fundraising for the University.

Fundraising

  • Develop contextualised fundraising products that are aligned with the University's core mission for various types of major gifts. 
  • Optimise fundraising operations and resources to drive efficient fundraising to achieve annual targets of Development Team
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and grooming to the overall fundraising unit, research and intel unit for lead generation and prospect engagement.
  • Support in setting up essential operating infrastructure, processes including drafting of building funding pipelines, grant proposals, and systems to meet the fundraising goals.
  • Ensure the creation of a robust and researched database of potential corporate and institutional donor communities. 
  • Consult with the team and Vice Chancellor and other relevant university teams- to coordinate, draft, and submit tailored funding concepts and proposals.

Managing Development Team

  • Initiate and recruit the corporate and institutional fundraising team with permanent staff and volunteers as per feasibility and requirement.
  • Track performance against Fundraising (Inspire) KPIs. Set fundraising revenues and goals for the fundraising team and manage partnership pipelines.
  • Ensure timely funder reporting as per the funder contract

Accountabilities

  • Complete tasks on time and in accordance with expectations
  • Work constructively and collaboratively with other members of the University team.
  • Undertake relevant training as required.
  • Nurture the Development team to ensure team satisfaction and healthy work environment

Reporting

  • Report on the annual and long term goals set along with the Vice Chancellor
  • Track fundraising income, administer all fundraising data and ensure accurate records are maintained.
  • Contribute to monthly board reports on fundraising activities including pipeline, tracking against budget and analysis of return on investment.
  • Set reporting standards and process within the team with the Vice Chancellor



DESIRED ATTRIBUTES/ SKILLS:

Technical Skills

  • Proven track record on fundraising for at least 3 of the giving segment and exposure to all giving segment
  • Strong experience on product building, proposal writing, and team management
  • Proven track record on donor management and relationship building
  • Strong acumen in business and partnership development.
  • Strong understanding of the higher education fundraising landscape. 
  • Advanced conceptual and technical knowledge of institutional fundraising.

Soft Skills

  • Highly advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A hands-on leader will suit the role. 
  • Strong communication skills and personal integrity are baseline requirements.
  • Open mind and flexibility to work in a growing and learning team.
  • High Intellect & moral values which  coincide with the University’s  core values, mission, and philanthropic aspirations to serve marginalised youth and local communities.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of a 12 years of working experience in the development and non-profit fundraising sector with at least 7 years of work experience in direct fundraising
  • Masters degree in Business or Education or Communication or Liberal Arts
  • Candidate preferred to have corporate and development sector exposure from past experience
