Position Overview:
As a Mission Design and Simulations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning and executing space
missions by designing orbital trajectories, conducting simulations, and ensuring the feasibility and
success of space missions. This position requires expertise in astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, and
proficiency in simulation tools.
1. Mission Planning:
● Design and optimize orbital trajectories based on mission objectives, payload requirements, and
operational constraints.
● Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to understand mission goals and translate them into
orbit design parameters.
● Complex satellite constellation designs and trade studies.
2. Astrodynamics and Orbital Mechanics:
● Utilize astrodynamics principles to model and analyze satellite motion, gravitational influences,
and orbital perturbations.
● Orbit determination and propagation analyses
3. Simulation and Analysis:
● Develop and implement simulation models to analyze satellite behavior under various
conditions.
● Perform simulations to assess mission success probabilities and evaluate sensitivity to different
parameters.
4. Launch Window Analysis:
● Identify optimal launch windows based on mission requirements, orbital dynamics, and celestial
mechanics.
5. Mission Validation:
● Validate mission design through rigorous simulations and analyses, considering uncertainties in
atmospheric drag, solar radiation pressure, and other factors.
● Assess and mitigate risks related to orbital decay, satellite conjunctions, and other dynamic
events.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
● Prepare comprehensive documentation of mission design, simulations, and analysis results.
● Communicate findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
