Software Engineering Senior Advisor [T500-**]

ROLE SUMMARY:

Provides hands on software engineering and system architecture leadership for the Behavioral Health and Care Solutions Delivery teams. This individual will be working on several of the largest Technology initiatives for Evernorth targeted at revolutionizing Health Services and Healthcare Delivery system in the United States. The focus of the work is to continue to enhance Evernorth’s market winning capabilities in the Behavioral Health and Care Solutions space. The Technology strategy is completely aligned to our business strategy and the candidate will be able to influence technology \ business direction within a world class Delivery Vertical. The solution focuses on enabling this change through the use of the latest technologies and development techniques.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and architectural/design direction for the team.
  • Direct the team in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Ensure engineering solutions align with the Technology strategy and that they support the application’s requirements.
  • Plan and implement procedures that will maximize engineering and operating efficiency for application integration technologies.
  • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities.
  • Complete accountability for the technology assets owned by the team.
  • Provide leadership to the team ensuring the team is meeting the following objectives: Design, configuration, implementation of middleware products and application design/development within the supported technologies and products.
  • Proactive monitoring and management design of supported assets assuring performance, availability, security, and capacity.
  • Maximize the efficiency (operational, performance, and cost) of the application assets.
  • Sizes User Stories based on time / difficulty to complete.
  • Provides input on specific challenges facing User Stories.
  • Discuss risks, dependencies, and assumptions.
  • Determine if User Stories meet the Definition of Ready
  • Selects User Stories to be completed in the Iteration, based on User Story priority and team capacity and velocity.
  • Breaks User Stories into tasks.
  • Participates in the confidence vote.
  • Participate in the daily stand up


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ Years Experience
  • College degree (Bachelor) in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience leading/managing technical teams with a passion for the developing the talent within the team. Experience with vendor management in an onshore/offshore model.
  • Deep understanding with most of the following technologies Kafka, AWS (serverless related services), python, databricks, java, Debezium, MsSQL
  • Familiarity with agile methodology including SCRUM team leadership.
  • Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior/test driven development, and specification by example.
  • Proven experience with architecture, design, and development of large-scale enterprise application solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong influencing/negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal/relationship management skills.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Proactive participation in design sessions, Program Increments (PI) Planning and sprint refinement meetings
  • Delegate technical tasks to team members to help organize sprint.
  • Oversee developers to help them write reusable, testable, and efficient code, including hosting regular technical huddles to conduct code reviews.
  • Understand coding standards and ensure team is implementing them as code is being developed.
  • Ensure any defects are delegated to team members and triaged.
  • Responsible for clean code deployment, issue resolution and first line contact for all technical discussions/issues for the team
  • Attend or ensure team member is point to attend Order of Activity (OOA) calls to prepare for upcoming releases, ensure release tasks (i.e. script preparation, warranty documentation review with Production Support team) are created and delegated to team members.
  • Coordinate with Cloud Center of Excellence (CoE) and Cigna Information Protection (CIP) on application and design reviews to ensure successful Production deployments.
  • Report status on team progress, deliverables, etc. to leadership
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for the team (i.e. automation, removing consistent blockers) and track under team's Continuous Improvement features in upcoming PIs
  • Identify technical debt items that team needs to resolve and track under team's Technical Debt features in upcoming Program Increments (PIs)
  • Identify reusable framework opportunities and share with the Frameworks team or Cross-ART tech leads.
