General Manager - Plant

Virbhu India Pvt Ltd – Vadodara (Gujarat), a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Power Solutions (USA), operating in the field of power electronics, has an immediate opening for a General Manager . We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated General Manager to lead our Research and Development (R&D) Facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the timely execution of our R&D projects, managing contract manufacturing relationships, and ensuring the successful launch of innovative products. The General Manager will have full profit and loss responsibility and will be instrumental in driving our small, agile, and lean company towards success. The ideal candidate comes from a similar fast paced, medium-sized company dedicated to developing new products and has experience in managing multiple functions such as engineering, supply chain, procurement, HR and finance Responsibilities: Develop and Manage R&D teams and utilizing strong leadership skills to align them with company goals and project deadlines. Collaborate closely with the procurement team to optimize sourcing strategies, ensuring timely deliveries and efficient production. Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and refine strategies for R&D project execution, prototype creation, and industrialization. Engage with universities to support R&D efforts and implement mathematical simulations for enhanced project outcomes. Maintain a keen focus on project timelines, aligning all activities with established schedules. Develop a low to medium volume manufacturing line for power converters. Identify, build rapport, and manage contract manufacturing relationships to ensure the highest quality standards are met. Work closely with suppliers and delivery partners to guarantee seamless production and on-time deliveries. Lead by example, encouraging innovative thinking and efficient execution within the R&D teams. Take full profit and loss responsibility for the R&D facility's operations, with a keen eye for financial acumen and efficient resource utilization. Qualifications/ Experience: Must have 15-20 years of professional experience in the power electronics/UPS/ Rectifier invertor industries. Minimum 5yrs experience as manager Proven track record of successfully managing R&D projects and contract manufacturing relationships. Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills with the ability to align teams with company goals. Experience in overseeing project timelines and driving results in a fast-paced R&D environment. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and delivery partners. Financial acumen and experience managing profit and loss for a business unit. Previous experience in a medium-sized company environment is preferred. Demonstrated commitment and willingness to invest time and effort into the success of the company. A degree in business or another relevant field. Launch Phase and Full-Time Commitment: Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the success of the company, including a full-time dedication to the role during the launch phase. This will require additional time beyond the standard workweek. Reporting Structure: As the General Manager, you will report directly to the President of the company. The role involves leading an existing team and utilizing the established infrastructure of accounting, purchasing, and procurement, all of which will report to the General Manager. Additional Information: This role does not involve business development with external clients. Instead, there is a focus on managing one internal client – the US HQ. The position solely pertains to R&D prototyping activities, contract manufacturing of the finished product. Except prototype limited production, no internal manufacturing activities are included. Relocation to Vadodara may be required and could be provided as part of the package. Salary will be determined based on the market and the candidate's experience.
