E-Commerce DevOps Engineer (CMS)

Position Summary

E-Commerce DevOps (CMS) Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, supporting and maintaining eCommerce site operations, with a focus on supporting CMS, Frontend (including cache) and BFF layers on Cloud-based infrastructure (AWS/GCP). Additionally, having knowledge with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Akamai CDN and monitoring tooling is strongly preferred. Expected to coordinate with key groups outside of the devops area like IT/Business/third-party vendors to support the day-to-day site operations. Ensure effective triage and resolution of site operations support issues. Implement technology solutions for site performance, viability, and health. Coordinate on ongoing release activity to Production.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Production Support role for Content Management System (CMS)
  • Analyze all business processes and ensure compliance to all controlled processes according to business requirement.
  • Monitor and provide support to workflows and provide expert knowledge on all workflow designs and implementation.
  • Analyze the day to day operations and processes and focus on Process Automation and Continuous Improvement.
  • Works collaboratively with external and internal vendors and stakeholders to research and elicit, analyze, validate and document business requirements, and to ensure that those requirements clearly reflect true business needs, correctly representing all stakeholders.
  • Works in partnership with all IT teams to find solutions, and/or escalates issues to appropriate IT groups and third party vendors for resolution.
  • Act as a Production Support for the e-Commerce site with an emphasis on monitoring and ensuring site uptime and availability in production environment.
  • Serve as critical support role for the Development Team, Business Team, and other vendor partners.
  • Act as the technical lead on the performance, monitoring, and activity of all systems and databases related to daily operations of the e-Commerce environments.
  • Participate in and provide SME representation for cross-functional team collaborations on projects and problem resolutions.
  • Architect, research, and make recommendations for web-based technologies that would benefit the site and the company.
  • Ensure secure operations with application, database, and operating system security hardening, penetration testing, and SOX/PCI compliance.
  • Document process and procedures for internal use and provide extensive and detailed instructions on Production changes for the Managed Service Team to execute.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed.


Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Retail domain experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in supporting Back-End, Front-End Development and Software Development.
  • Strong ability to triage issues and reach resolution utilizing available tools and problem analysis.
  • Experience using and configuring Drupal CMS along with web development related skills in that area.
  • Strong understanding of PHP programming language and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
  • Strong working knowledge in a Cloud platform (AWS/GCP/Azure) and common services like compute, databases, Kubernetes, storage and networking.
  • Experience with Terraform (infrastructure as code) or Cloud platform specific template-based automation (CloudFormation/Cloud Deployment Manager/ARM) to create resources is a plus.
  • Solid experience working with CICD implementation (build and deployment pipelines) and Kubernetes container orchestration.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience demonstrable skills and experience working with Linux, SQL and scripting (shell, javascript, python, etc.) - having Python knowledge is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in automating processes using scripting and automation tools like Rundeck.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with an e-Commerce platform like Salesforce Commerce Cloud/Hybris/Magento preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools like AppDynamics, SumoLogic and Quantum preferred.
  • Experience in Incident Management, Change Management and Production Change Control.


Behavioral competencies:

  • Working knowledge in Software Defined Networking and Software Defined Storage.
  • Working knowledge of Unix operating system, RHEL preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with distributed software development tools.
