About OMI Foundation:

OMI Foundation (OMI) is a new-age policy research and social innovation think tank developing knowledge frameworks at the intersection of mobility innovation and public good. Our interdisciplinary work is housed across three centres: The Centres for Future Mobility, Clean Mobility, and Inclusive Mobility. We develop evidence-based policy recommendations on the themes of sustainable urban mobility, electric mobility, energy and mobility, accessibility and inclusion, and the future of work and platform economy.


Key Responsibilities:

As an integral part of the OMI team, you will be supporting the three Centres on a variety of domains including clean mobility, EVs, energy, urban mobility, accessibility and inclusion, and the future of work. You would be playing a key role in articulating the tangible impact of the research backed recommendations from macro and micro economic perspectives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Research and Analysis: Conducting economic research and modelling to forecast the impacts of mobility innovations and policy changes, with a focus on sustainable urban mobility and livelihood outcomes.
  • Economic Data Tracking and Quarterly Analysis: Collecting and analysing macro and microeconomic data, and delivering quarterly analyses that highlight economic trends affecting OMI’s focus areas in mobility and livelihoods.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Synthesising research findings into comprehensive reports and papers, documenting the economic implications for mobility and livelihood.
  • Developing Policy Recommendations: Developing evidence-based policy recommendations that enhance sustainable mobility and improve livelihoods, backed by economic analysis and impact.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engaging with across all the three Centres within OMI as well as external partners to align economic strategies with the research goals towards enhancement of sustainable mobility and livelihood.
  • Expert presentation and outreach: Presenting research findings and economic analyses at various forums, including conferences, industry roundtables, and seminars, to share insights and influence the discourse on sustainable mobility and livelihoods.
  • Innovation and Strategy: Identifying new research areas and strategic opportunities that leverage economic insights to drive innovations in mobility and sustainable livelihoods.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • 4 - 5 years of relevant academic, research and industry experience
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Economics
  • Strong ability to perform quantitative and qualitative economic analysis
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., MS Excel, Stata, R, Python) and data visualisation tools
  • Ability to tackle complex problems with strategic solutions that consider both economic and social impacts
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • experience in economic research in areas related to urban mobility, EVs, livelihood, or sustainable development is a plus
  • A record of publications in leading journals would be advantageous
