About the role:


Luminar Technologies is currently seeking a System Administrator to join our team.The System Administrator will work with the current system administration team performing day-to-day tasks to maintain a lean and efficient server and network infrastructure while collaborating on special projects and also provide support/assistance to Luminar's current staff. This individual will require strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills and abilities. We are looking for a full-time candidate who is eager to learn, reliable, ready and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal direction.


Responsibilities


  • Create and maintain user accounts for corporate networks and applications.
  • Configure and maintain Windows and Linux servers in physical and virtualized environments.
  • Setup and maintain server backup routines using VEEAM backup solution.
  • Automate server processes/routines.
  • Maintain and support IT applications and licensing.
  • Perform routine OS and application upgrades.
  • Document IT processes and procedures and deliver cross-training to IT staff and end-users.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues for end-user software applications, both on-site and remotely.
  • Document work done in Helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Occasional short-distance travel may be necessary.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.


Role Requirements


  • Associate degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Experience administering Windows Server.
  • Experience administering Windows Active Directory.
  • Experience administering virtual hosts using VMWare Suite (vSphere and vCenter).
  • Experience with scripting with PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience implementing and supporting SSO solutions, such as Okta.
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts such as: TCP/IP protocol stack, DNS, DHCP, CIFS, NFS, SSH, SSL, port security, and Ethernet patching.
  • Understanding storage solutions and file encryption methodology.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and basic network issues, including wireless.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible hours and the ability to be on call or work non-standard hours during emergencies and maintenance windows.
  • Ability to comfortably lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Experience administering AWS.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced users .
  • Experience with highly dynamic environments is a plus.
