Development Economics Expert is a Full-time position with RTI International. Location: Delhi NCR Job Description: The individual will need to: Lead ongoing and new projects including planning, implementation and evaluation of climate economics and finance projects, economic analysis, policy assessments and program evaluations. Collaborate with different teams, build relationship with other teams at RTI supporting in implementation on various climate mitigation and adaptation projects. Provide technical inputs for various assignments in economic cost-benefit analysis, life cycle cost studies, financial structuring etc. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities. Develop project plans, budgets, resource allocation strategies, and risk management plans. Coordinate and oversee project teams, providing guidance, support and mentorship to team members. Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare regular progress reports for stakeholders. Conduct economic research, data analysis, and modelling to support project decision-making and policy recommendations. Evaluate project outcomes, assess impact, and identify lessons learned to inform future projects and strategies. Support business development including proposal wiring and teaming strategies in climate mitigation and adaptation projects. Collaborate with other RTI divisions to develop cross-sectoral concepts and research proposals as well as to deliver innovative solutions to financing issues across multitude of challenges. Lead and support delivery of ongoing co-benefit project (detailed below) will be an immediate priority. About the project: RTI is working on a donor funded project to measure climate adaptation co-benefits in Agricultural, Urban/Rural Infrastructure and Water sectors. The objectives of the assignment are: to design a framework cum methodology to identify, measure, assess and evaluate the indicators for the 3 sectors that can account climate co-benefits with a focus on adaptation; Apply climate lens, develop climate co-benefits methodology and calculate adaptation co-benefits of schemes in 3 partner states (Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh). Project Specific responsibilities: Contributing to overall assignment deliverables in coordination with team leader and team members. Analyze the state of play in specified sectors: Agriculture, Infrastructure, and water with respect to climate adaptation and co-benefits in the mentioned states. Assess the current priorities in the adaptation space aligning with the SAPCC and SDGs, priorities. Development of methodology and framework for the above-mentioned sector for measuring adaptation co-benefits using tools such as econometric modelling. Development of M&E framework including identifying key indicators/ parameters to measure the climate co-benefits in the sectors: Agriculture, Water, and Infrastructure. Support in conducting a few pilots on the methodology and framework developed for above mentioned sectors and states. Developing a roadmap for nationwide adoption of the tested methodologies Developing Monitoring and Evaluation process of climate co-benefits methodology. Identify key M&E methodologies and data sources in the agriculture, water and rural infrastructure sectors. Develop a study on evaluation of indicators incorporated in the climate co-benefits methodologies. Qualifications & Experience: Education/training: Post Graduate degree in Economics / Finance / Management/relevant subject. Ph.D. will be an advantage. Language: Good business language skills in English and Hindi General professional experience : At-least 10 years of professional experience in the econometric modelling/ climate change/ relevant subject Specific professional experience : At-least 8 years of experience of working with government stakeholders, policy analysis, report writing, econometric analysis and modelling. Regional experience : At-least 3 years of experience in projects in India Skills: Excellent communication skills Advanced quantitative analytical skills and excellent writing capability Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver under pressure. Ability to prioritize conflicting requirements. Working with Government entities at centre and state level is required. Previous experience in one or more of Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh is desirable. Self-motivated and capacity to function with limited supervision. Team player and collaborative style is desired as the selected individual will have to work with a range of colleagues and stakeholders.
