Summary:

We are looking for a skilled AWS PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in managing PostgreSQL databases within the AWS cloud environment. As an AWS PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, performance tuning, optimization, and maintenance of our PostgreSQL database systems on AWS. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of our database infrastructure.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and maintain PostgreSQL database instances on AWS.
  • Design, implement, and optimize database schemas, tables, and indexes.
  • Perform database performance tuning and optimization to ensure efficient query execution.
  • Manage data migration and replication processes between different PostgreSQL instances.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases.
  • Monitor database health and performance metrics, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries for performance and scalability.
  • Integrate PostgreSQL databases with other AWS services as required.
  • Write and maintain scripts for database automation tasks using languages like Python or Bash.
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to meet database requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the database team.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in PostgreSQL database administration.
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Strong understanding of database backup and recovery concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • AWS Certified Database Specialty certification (preferred).
  • Experience with other database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server (a plus).
